No, the bursary is paid directly to the educational institution where you will take your course.
Is this a new program?
Yes. Destination Clic for 14- and 15-year-olds was created to offer participants an unforgettable experience in the company of other young people from Canada’s various francophone communities.
What is the policy about using the target language?
Each educational institution participating in Destination Clic has a policy about using the target language. These CMEC-approved policies are provided in writing to students prior to the start of the course. Students who fail to comply with these rules may be asked to leave.
Why learn French if I’m francophone?
The program is for francophones whose permanent residence is outside of Quebec, who want to improve their fluency in French at a francophone institution and meet other Canadian francophones.
Can I arrive before or after the course start date?
No, you must arrive on the date set by the educational institution.
Can I go visit relatives on evenings and weekends?
No, educational institutions organize activities for bursary recipients to participate in on evenings and weekends.
Do I have to bring course materials?
No, materials are supplied by the educational institution. The materials required for teaching such as course manuals, posters, audiovisual equipment, lab materials, and some exercise leaflets used in class will be provided or lent by the institution.
You must provide your own supplies, such as pencils, pens, notebooks, binders, and paper. Having a French/English dictionary at your disposal is recommended during your entire immersion stay.
Do I have to bring special equipment or materials to participate in extracurricular activities?
Not unless it is specified by the educational institution.
How long are the courses?
Destination Clic lasts three weeks.
How many hours do I spend in class every day?
Participants spend three hours every morning in the classroom, for a total of 45 hours of classroom instruction for the duration of the course. The rest of the time is dedicated to sociocultural and athletic activities.
Where and when do I take the language test?
You usually take the test when you arrive at the host educational institution.
Will the other students in my course have the same level of proficiency in French?
Yes. You will take a language test before the course starts so that you can be assigned to a group that has the same proficiency level.
Will there be homework?
The educational institution will inform you of all the academic activities involved prior to the course.
What types of activities and workshops are offered?
All kinds of activities and workshops could be offered, for example:
Can I apply if I’m 13 before the course begins?
Yes, as long as you will be at least 14 years old by the time the course begins.
Can I be exempted from some of the eligibility requirements?
No, you must meet all the eligibility requirements by the time the course begins.
Can I still get a bursary if I’m not good in French?
Yes, Destination Clic is not a merit-based program.
Who is eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply for the program if you are 14 or 15 years old* during the calendar year in which the course takes place and are enrolled in Grade 8 or 9 during the school year that precedes the course; are a Canadian citizen or have permanent-resident status; were enrolled in school full time for at least one term in the current school year; have French as your first language; and have your permanent residence outside of Quebec.
*Applicants who are 13 years old and are enrolled in Grade 8 during the school year that precedes the course are also eligible.
Can I fax a photocopy of my proof of citizenship if I forget to enclose it with my application?
Yes. Click on the link to open the “Where to send your application?” page, which has the fax number for the coordinator of your home province or territory.
Can I fax or e-mail my application?
No. Faxed or e-mailed applications are generally not accepted.
Do you accept application forms postmarked after the March 15 deadline?
No. However, the application deadline may be extended.
How can I maximize my chances of getting a bursary?
Be as flexible as possible when filling out the "Preferences" section, i.e., check off as many options as possible.
I didn’t receive my tax slip. What do I do?
Your tax slip is issued by the educational institution where you took the course. Contact the educational institution directly.
What documents are accepted as proof of citizenship?
A photocopy of your valid Canadian passport, Canadian birth certificate, or baptismal certificate. IMPORTANT: These documents are used to establish your eligibiity for the program. Institutions will require more documentation to proceed with your inscription, should you receive a bursary.

Can I use my Explore account to apply for Destination Clic?
Yes. If you have an account for anyof our programs (Explore, Destination Clic, or Odyssey), you can use it to apply to any of the others, provided you meet the eligibility criteria.
How do I print a copy of my PDF application?
You must be logged in to your on-line profile and be on the My applications page. Click the printer icon directly to the right of your application number.
I completed the three steps of the on-line application process. Do I need to print and send in any documentation?
Yes. You must print out your completed PDF application, sign and date it, and mail it, along with supporting documentation. Note: Do not send screenshots of your application details. You must print and use the PDF application.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
As long as you still have your username and the e-mail address you registered with, you can retrieve your password by clicking on I forgot my password on the Sign In page. A new temporary password will be e-mailed to you.

For security reasons, you cannot generate a new password without your username. Therefore, you should contact olp-plo@cmec.ca for technical assistance. Tip: Check your e-mail inbox for the original message sent to you upon completion of your on-line application. It contains your username.
I got the error message, "The e-mail address you entered already exists." What should I do?
You must have already created a profile for one of our programs (Explore, Destination Clic, or Odyssey). If you have forgotten your username, click on I forgot my password on the Sign In page. A new temporary password will be e-mailed to you.

It is likely your Internet browser has disabled pop-ups from our site. Make sure to enable pop-ups. Also, make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader software installed on your computer.
Can I change educational institutions once my name is selected?
No. Exceptions may be made only in exceptional circumstances (e.g., illness, death of a relative, etc.). A request must be presented to the coordinator of your home province or territory, along with supporting documentation. The request must be approved by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC).
Can I take part in the immersion program with my friends?
Bursaries are awarded by random draw, and the chances of being able to participate at the same institution with your friends are quite limited.
How and when are applicants selected?
The names of successful applicants are randomly drawn by computer, at the end of March.
How long will I have to accept or refuse the bursary if my name is drawn?
Following the initial draw, you will have 10 business days from the time the institution contacts you. For additional draws, the confirmation period will be much shorter.
If I have not received an e-mail in April, what should I do?
Be proactive. Log into your on-line profile and check your application status.
If my name is drawn, can I get the names of other students who’ll be travelling from the same region?
For privacy reasons, we can’t release any information about applicants.
What should I do if I want to refuse the bursary?
Contact the institution to let them know. You will not be penalized for refusing the bursary. If you still meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply again next year.
When are successful applicants selected?
The initial random draw takes place around the beginning of April.
When do I find out whether my application has been accepted?
In early April, you will be notified by e-mail of the status of your application. If you are on a waiting list, don’t despair! Because bursaries are awarded to replace people who decide not to go, you may still have a chance to participate in Destination Clic.

Why were these educational institutions chosen to offer Destination Clic for 14- and 15-year-olds?
The University of Ottawa, the Université de Moncton, and the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières were chosen for their high-quality programs and also because they are representative of Canada’s francophone communities.
Will there be someone to pick me up and drop me off at the airport or train or bus station?
Yes. Bilingual chaperones will be assigned to pick you up and drop you off at the airport or train or bus station, as needed.
Do boys and girls sleep in separate rooms?
Yes, boys and girls stay on different floors in the residences.
What type of accommodation will I stay in during the course?
Participants will stay in a residence or a university apartment. For more information about accommodations, check the institution’s Web site.
When do I have to let the educational institution know about my special needs?
If you have a disability, require medical care, etc., inform your educational institution when you accept the bursary.
Are all the activities free, or do I have to pay for some of them?
Educational institutions offer free activities included in the program. There may be a cost for additional activities. Your institution will inform you of any such costs.
Do I have to pay for my travel?
Yes, but you will receive an allowance at the end of the course to cover part of the cost of travel between your home province or territory and the province where the course takes place, based on the distance between your home and the host institution.
Do I have to send in the registration fee along with my application form?
No. The fee is payable once your host institution contacts you.
Is the registration fee refundable?
No.
What do I have to pay to participate in Destination Clic?
A $200 registration fee, and possibly a deposit, to your host institution.
Can I go out at night?
Participants are required to comply with the institution’s rules, which will be provided to the parents of participants.
What are the safety rules?
The institution will provide you and your parents with the safety rules, in writing, prior to the start of the course.
