Explore (ages 13 to 15)
Destination Clic is was created in 1977 as an opportunity for francophone students attending a French-first-language school outside of Quebec to take three weeks of classes, have fascinating experiences, make cultural discoveries, and form new friendships. Most importantly, students learn that there are other Francophones just like them living all over Canada, and they develop a sense of cultural kinship and identity with their francophone roots. However, Destination Clic is not a French immersion program and is not designed to teach French.
If you are interested in a very similar program but are looking to improve your competencies in one of Canada’s two official languages, look into our new program: Explore (ages 13 to 15)!
Full-time students who are currently 13, 14 or 15 years old and are Canadian citizens or permanent residents can apply now until the deadline of February 15, 2019. Participants are awarded a place and funding which covers tuition fees for the course, instructional materials, meals, and accommodation.
This new initiative was piloted in 2011 and in 2012 with positive results and full participation, and its goal is to offer a three-week experiential program to students aged 13-15 who wish to experience a cultural exchange and intensive language learning in order to improve their competencies in one of Canada’s two official languages.
As with the current Explore program, participants will have the opportunity to:
• Initiate of develop their language skills in a structured learning environment;
• Create links with youths who speak their second language from across Canada; and
• Enjoy a rich cultural experience in another part of Canada.
